NCOLS Day 1: PT, Classes, and Drill
This morning, the NCOs’ day began at 0545. They woke up, got ready, and immediately headed out for their Initial PT Assessment in which they learned about and practiced teaching PT. Once that was finished, they rejoined the rest of the academy for morning formation and breakfast.
They began classes by 0900 learning things such as The Roles of an NCO, Staffing Encampment, and Teaching Drill. By the time these classes were over, it was time for lunch.
After lunch, they had a quick briefing by Capt. Gurtner on the hip pocket speeches they are preparing for later in the week and they were taught various other classes along with some Team Leadership Projects (TLP).
Next came dinner which was welcomed very warmly by the NCOs who had had a busy day. Subsequently, they had a discussion about the core values and headed off to the parking lot to practice drill and ceremonies.
As the NCOs’ day came to a close, they spent some time with their mentor, C/2d Lt. Pelletier along with having their own personal time. LIghts finally came for the students at 2045.
