Day 7
7/23/15 C/TSgt Heiter C/CMSgt Moss and C/CMSgt Mitchell Cadets were woken up to a perfect morning of nice cool weather. They then participated in the physical fitness test, running the mile run, sit ups, and push-ups. After having hygiene time and then morning formations cadets had interesting classes on aviation panel and senior military colleges. Brunch followed closely after the classes and had a mostly breakfast selection. After brunch the cadets in all schools changed into blues for Saturday inspection. Uniforms, barracks, and drill were inspected. School photos were also done today, another sign that the end of the week was near. Tonight's dinner was a BBQ which was graciously put together by senior staff. Cadets were able to interact with other schools and staff freely. This was a fun time for the cadets where they got to reflect on a week of learning and success. After the BBQ the whole academy got to view the academy video by the PAO team. The cadet are now upstairs packing and are very happy to have completed encampment and are excited to get back home to their families. Honor Guard and NCOLS both had their closing classes and projects to complete. Honor Guard received their service jackets and cords. Cadets from NCOLS completed their boards of review and received their challenge coins. Taps played when darkness fell. The bugle sounded. Somber as it rose and fell. Everyone was silent as they realized and remembered this was the last full day of the 2016 Summer Academy. Everyone was silent, remembering this past week's fun times. When they had a blast; and during the hard times where they grew become stronger, wiser, and more ready than ever. Ready to finish encampment, NCOLS, or Honor Guard and feel proud of themselves for their accomplishments. |
