Day 4: PT, Orientation Flights, and Team Leadership Projects
Day 4 began at 0545 with the cadets getting up and leaving for PT at 0600. At 0645, they were marched back up to the main field for morning formation after which was breakfast. From breakfast, cadets went back to their dorms to shower and change into ABUs. Alpha and Bravo flights used some of this time to clean up their rooms for another dormitory inspection. Inspection began at 0930 for Alpha and Bravo while Charlie flight was taught a class entitled “Introduction to Cyber Domain,” and Delta flight was given a flight level performance evaluation. From 1045 to 1145 the academy was split between two presentations: a Norwich Presentation for cadets 16+ and a class about NCSAs for cadets below the age of 16. After the two events concluded, the entire academy made its way to lunch. After lunch, Alpha flight participated in Drill and Ceremonies while Bravo flight attended an Introduction to the Cyber Domain from 1300-1415. With the events switching between the two flights from 1415-1530 they didn’t meet up until 1530 for the class Teamwork for Performance. After lunch Charlie and Delta flight had dormitory inspections from 1300-1415 until it was time for them to attend their Teamwork for Performance class from 1430-1530. Afterwards, Charlie flight had some drill time which occurred while Delta attended an Introduction to the Cyber Domain. Once 1645 rolled around, the cadets made their way to the entrance field where they had evening formation after which was dinner. It’s towards the end of the day for the cadets and they finish it off on a fun note by completing their third Team Leadership Project from 1800 - 1900. Once finished they marched back to barracks for 1st Sergeant Time from 1945 - 2015. After blister checks and showers they turned out the lights and went to bed at 2045. |
HONOR FLIGHT OF THE DAY:
BRAVO FLIGHT
Today, the NHWG CAP Academy was honored yet again in having Mr. Curt LaFond, the Director of Cadet Programs, join us as special guest all the way from National.
Mr. LaFond has made innumerable accomplishments in his CAP life including writing the four Learn to Lead books that every cadet must read and test on in order to receive promotions. He is an amazing example of great leadership and it truly was an honor to have him here at the academy interacting with and teaching our cadets face to face.

NCOLS Day 4: PT, Inspection, Classes, and TLPs
The NCOLS cadets started the day in the PT uniform and for their first class learned how to give PT assessments to cadets. When the staff finished teaching them how to conduct a fitness assessment, they marched to the parade field for the morning Reveille Formation and continued on to the Wise Campus Center for breakfast.
Next, they showered and changed into their dress blues uniform for their next class. The NCOs were taught by the NCOLS Commander and Flight Mentor on how to conduct a uniform inspection.
After that class, they changed into their ABU uniforms and joined the encampment for a Norwich presentation and a class about National Cadet Special Activities (NCSAs). After finishing the classes at the Mack Auditorium, they marched back to the Wise Campus Center for lunch.
Once lunch concluded they continued to Mack Hall for afternoon classes. They learned about team-building and Servant Leadership, participated in Team Leadership Projects (TLPs) on the obstacle course, and practiced Drill & Ceremonies.
After their afternoon classes, they marched to the field for evening Retreat Formation and ate supper at the Wise Campus Center. After dinner, the students headed back to Mack Hall for a Conflict Resolution class and then to the Barracks for their Board of Reviews (BORs).
