This week the NH Wing Civil Air Patrol Non-Commissioned Officer Leadership School (NCOLS) is taking place at the NH National Guard Pembroke Regional Training Facility. Twenty-nine cadet students and 7 cadet staff members from NH, along with cadets from NJ, PA, ME, WI, CT, and NC are attending the weeklong training event with the focus of training cadets to lead other cadets. Four CAP Senior Members are supervising the training event while the cadet staff prepared and executed all of the training.

Day Seven,
Cadets have their breakfast and clean the dining hall in preparation for graduation. After cleaning the barracks and changing into blues uniform, the Cadets return to the main building for graduation. The Cadets did an amazing job during their week at NCOLS and proved themselves as capable and motivated leaders for the future of the Civil Air Patrol.

Day Six,
The last day before graduation, the Cadets start with final drill exams proctored by Cadet Mentors. Next, the Cadets go into a trench warfare class taught by C/SMSgt Demers. After the class, the Cadets went outside to do some fun PT events. Some of the activities included tire flipping, relay races, and a run around campus. After PT the Cadets presented their hip pocket presentations, the Cadets had all week to work on their hip pockets, short speeches they would remember by memory and recite in front of the rest of the academy. After the hip pocket presentations, the Cadets went back to their barracks to clean up and prepare for graduation.

Day Five,
The Cadets start their day off with a Leadership Presence class by C/2nd Lt Mele. The Cadets prepare their blues uniforms for graduation. Next, the Cadets had an interactive class on public speaking by C/MSgt Slayton and C/SMSgt Demers. The cadets then were taught how to perform a barracks inspection and then performed one themselves. The cadets were then inspected and took academy photos. After the photos, the cadets changed back into their utility uniforms and had a class on service academies by C/1Lt John-Zensky and 1Lt Lavoie. Next, the cadets had a well-deserved dinner and wished 1Lt Tholl a happy birthday. Then, the Cadets presented their Staff Duty Analysis flight projects to the rest of the Academy. Before heading back to the barracks, Chief Hunt taught an informational Special Operations class.

Day Four,
The Cadets were able to get a lot done. Cadets start their day with a very informational visit at the Aviation Museum of New Hampshire. The Cadets arrived back at the RTI Center just in time for lunch and a Conflict Leadership class. Following the class, was drill time, the Cadets had the chance to practice formations of various cadet staff positions from Flight Sergeant to First Sergeant. After drill, the Cadets came back to the classroom and learned how to properly do a uniform inspection. The Cadets had one more class that was taught by Lt Col Morin.

After a time management class, the Cadets had the opportunity to practice leading PT tests with the help of their flight mentors. After a nice little run led by the flight staff, the Cadets changed into Utility uniforms before lunch. Later in the afternoon Cadets had the opportunity to continue to perform drill with the rest of their flight.

After PT, the Cadets attended a team-building exercise and attempted to make a large picture with limited communication with one another by drawing their own section of the picture. The Cadets were given the chance to drill their flights outside. At the end of the day, the Academy formed up once more for closing.

Cadet Staff arrives early to prepare for the influx of NCOLS students. After training and an overview of the week, the staff was prepared to face their tasks head-on. Cadets checked in and unpacked and were shown around the areas they’d be learning in for the next week. The Cadets attended classes and various activities before dinner. After dinner, the cadets went to their barracks for their much-deserved rest.
